COMPOSITIONS & CONDUCTING

Since the first Australian Voices Composing Bootcamp held by Stephen Leek ten years ago, Amber has had a strong connection to the compositional languages of Australian choral composers. The majority of her published output is choral music, however, commission-specific works have also arisen. Scores and sound files are available via the links below.

“The first of the premieres was “Stained Red Heart”, a song cycle for soprano and chamber ensemble, by Brisbane-born Amber Evans…This is a work of great emotion, expansive lands, distant desert mirages. There is driving rhythm, tainted with a sense of anguish and hopelessness. It is a very sad piece, but beautifully contrived and played. The hushed audience hung on every nuance.”—Sydney City News (2018)

Conducting

As a conductor, Amber is committed to the promotion of new vocal and instrumental chamber music by her fellow colleagues. After completing her choral conducting Masters at the University of Cambridge, Amber has conducted programs of Australian contemporary choral music in the UK and the US, and is a sought-after new chamber music conductor in the NYC area.

"This was a performance of breathtaking quality, expressiveness, and tone. Evans’ superb control of the on-stage forces delivered power and drama, gentleness and reverence, superb balance, and perfection in pitches and entries.” (Canberra International Music Festival, Limelight Magazine, May 2021)
